L'Oréal Advanced Haircare Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I'm not sure what it is about a certain shampoo commercial that will grab my attention and make me buy their product but I do keep my eyes peeled when I'm running out of shampoo and/or conditioner and... Probably ultimately just see the same shiny hair you get on all of them on any one particular commercial at the right time and I'm sold. My last pick was L'Oréal's new haircare line of products called "Advanced Haircare" which are tailored to individual hair needs.

These ones I tried out were not for the same problem: the shampoo is the oleo-keratin variety for frizzy hair and the conditioner is the arginine one for fragile, falling hair. I tend to mix up my conditioners and shampoos all the time because I get the best results that way but I was still very conscious of the immediate after-effects of these ones.

Redken Shine Brilliance Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist

Ok the first thing I want to say about this product (which I received in sample form from July's Birchbox) is that "brilliance" is misspelled. I googled this product to see if maybe Redken had purposely misspelled it for some strange reason but I couldn't find anything that said "Shine Brillance" so... Smooth move, Redken.

Moving on!

This mist is supposed to add shine to your hair while remaining "lightweight." I've tried this spray a couple of times now and my initial thought about it is that I really don't feel compelled to ever buy the full-sized product.

Suave Professionals Shampoo for Dry or Frizzy Hair

I was at the drug store the other day and I needed to pick up some new shampoo. I kept remembering that Suave commercial where the hair stylists are using "unknown" products and they're loving it and then they find out it's Suave and they're all surprised and their opinions are changed forever and blah blah blah. Plus, this ginormous bottle of shampoo (32 oz) was only three-something and it is a huge bottle, I have a hard time picking it up with one hand in the shower sometimes, haha.

I chose the one for dry or frizzy hair and I've been using it for several weeks now.

Tangle Teezer

After reading several very positive reviews on the Tangle Teezer hair brush, I knew I had to try it for myself so I ordered the purple one and have been using it for a couple of weeks now and just let me say to begin with: this baby works!

Bliss Lemon & Sage Supershine Shampoo

Today I have for you a quick & easy review of Bliss's Lemon & Sage Supershine Shampoo. I've been trying this shampoo out for several weeks now and I'm ready to share my findings.

Does it make my hair shinier? Yes and no... I've found that my hair does look shinier and well-nourished near the scalp but it doesn't do a ton for my dry & sometimes frizzy ends.

Ouidad Playcurl Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner

I've been using Ouidad's Playcurl Shampoo & Conditioner for a month and a half or so.'

It offers a "mild cleansing formula created to boost the volume of fine, thin curls. [Blended with] green tea extract, aloe and wheat protein with volumizing polymers for a gentle shampoo that livens limp curls and encourages the curl formation."

Umberto Dry Shampoo

I broke my no-buy when I did a little haul at Target. I found this dry shampoo and since I've been really wanting to try any kind of dry shampoo, I grabbed it up for $8.99.

It was a good day to try this out because I had skipped washing my hair last night and I can't really go two full days without washing my hair--too oily--so I had a bit of an oily mess going on on the top of my head and my bangs.

Samy Fat Foam Hair Color

My sister was over for a night and she had bought some Samy's Fat Foam hair color. I decided to take pictures and get some opinions from her and share it with you guys as I don't dye my hair anymore.

I'm going to do it in interview form for a little something different.

Peter Thomas Roth Anything But Ordinary Brunette Shampoo Review

I decided recently to try a whole new shampoo line. Beacause these "Anything But Ordinary Brunette" shampoos and conditioners were on sale (and still are here and here, retailing at $7/bottle) I went with Peter Thomas Roth. I'm not real familiar with the brand and these were the first PTR products I've tried.

I've been using this shampoo for several weeks now. Here is what I've noticed:

  • My hair is less frizzy, although I still get some frizz. I've taken to braiding my hair most nights before I go to bed and this also helps me cut down on frizz and gives me nice waves in the morning.
  • My hair is softer and feels less damaged than it did when I started using it. I'd say overall, it has made my hair look and feel slightly healthier.

Review: InStyler

My sister gave me an InStyler several months ago because she bought one and got one free. I have a couple likes and a couple gripes about this I wanted to share with you.

One thing I love is how fast this baby heats up! It's seriously almost instantaneous. It has three heat settings (low, medium & high) and I always just use the hottest.

When you use it, the cylindrical side spins and heats and the brush side brushes and heats.

Supposedly, this is a straightener and a curler, right? Well I can't get it to work well at all as a curler... I gave up on it awhile back. It's awkward trying to get your hair around the cylinder side and then when I could manage to do that, it would basically just straighten/smooth my hair. I went back to using my curling iron.

As far as a straightener goes, it works well but no better than my traditional straightener except that there is no wait time for the heat-up which is awesome because I like stuff to be ready to use when I am.

So all in all, it's a pretty good straightener and that's about it.

Here is a before and after picture of my hair:

I make sure to get my hair all detangled before I use it because the brush will pull your hair if it snags on a snarl. That's fun to say... Snags on a snarl.

It did smooth and shine my hair but any straightener does the same and that's the bottom line here. If you're torn between the two, I'd personally just buy a straightener and call it a day.

Review: Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

The shampoo retails for $18/bottle (8.44oz) and $22/bottle for the conditioner.

I don't think these are worth the price at all; especially the conditioner. The shampoo I finished using but I had to stop using the conditioner after a couple times because it really weighed down my hair to the point that there was absolutely no body what so ever. Nothing like that thin, stringy, no body look but I think I'll pass at the tune of $22 a bottle.

I don't have any complaints about the shampoo exactly but I don't have anything good to say about it either. I didn't feel that it was anything special or any different than comparable drugstore brands.

Would I buy it again? No.
